A popular US-Bangladeshi blogger Avijit Roy was killed by a knife wielding mob. Avijit was attacked in Dhaka as he walked back from a fair with his wife who was injured during the attack.
The police is yet to arrest anyone, but claims some Islamist groups that praised the killing are being investigated.
Roy's family said he received threats after publishing articles promoting secular views, science and social issues on his Bengali language blog, Mukto-mona, or free Mind.
Activists and Students gathered in Dhaka to mourn and protest against the blogger's death.
