The Ondo State Government has said its trauma centre will begin kidney transplant next year, in order to make the best medical centre in the country.
The state Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade, was quoted in the statement as saying the emergency surgical intervention in the country was being transformed with the state taking a leading role.
He also said that the level-one trauma and surgical centre had personnel across all surgical specialists and that about 3,000 surgeries had been carried out in the yet-to-be inaugurated facility, with 2,400 dialyses done at the kidney care centre between March 2014 to date, when the facility became operational.
According to Akinmade, 1,000 new cases have been received by the health centre and it has, performed 50 spine surgeries, 350 plastic surgeries, over a thousand ophthalmological, 800,100 ENT, 100 neurological and over 400 general surgeries, among others.
