On Saturday November 28, the people of Kogi State took to the streets to protest over the replacement of late Prince Abubarkar Audu with Yahaya Bello of Ebira.
The protesters barricaded Ayangba-Abuja road by Itobe over nomination of Bello as All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant. APC picked Bello to replace the late Prince Audu as its candidate for the December 5 supplementary election in Kogi state.
At the same time Audu’s deputy, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke , was retained as the party’s deputy governorship candidate.
Bello, instead of Mohammed Audu, the son of the late governorship candidate, will be replacing Audu who gave up the ghost shortly after the Independent Electoral Commission announced the November 21 governorship election in the state inconclusive.
Audu died last weekend after leading the poll with 41,000.
From the results announced by the INEC, from the 21 local councils in the state, had won 16 and was clearly ahead of the PDP opponent and incumbent, Idris Wada.
